23 As He (Jesus) got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. 24 Suddenly, a violent storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves. But He was sleeping. 25 So the disciples came and woke Him up, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to die!” 26 But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, you of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea. And there was a great calm. 27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this?—even the winds and the sea obey Him!”
-Matthew 8:23-27

The storm came in, Jesus slept. While everyone else was panicking, Jesus had peace.
We know at least 4 of these disciples of Jesus were fishermen, they had been on the boat in a storm before. They had been walking with Jesus, even seen Him perform miracles. But, then the wind started to blow, and the waves began to rise. Panic and fear began to rise as well.
They are like many of us Floridians. As the storm gets closer and closer…we say things like, “I have been through a hurricane before” …but, then the winds start to blow, and our confidence begins to fade…

Jesus asks, “Why are you afraid? What happened to the faith you had?” This is part of our faith journey…when the waves crash and the wind blows…where is your confidence? Where is your peace?
If Jesus can speak to a storm, rebuking it and calming the wind and waves, then we can rest in the fact that Jesus can and wants to keep you safe in the storm. Our confidence shouldn’t be found in a Euro or GFS tracking. Our confidence is not in the things of this world.
Our confidence should rest with the One Who Calms Storms. Our peace, our rest is found in Christ Jesus. Faith in Jesus is never misplaced. If He can calm the storm of the sea with one word, He can calm the storms of our life as well.

So, Pray, have Peace. Rest in Jesus. Allow your confidence to be in the calmer of the waves.
Pray. Rest. Have Peace.

Our Confidence is found in Jesus.
